Bella Hadid’s ’90s Supermodel Look Includes a Silky Scrunchie

In case you missed it, Bella Hadid is back and seemingly better than ever. Earlier this year, Hadid took a break from work and public appearances to focus on her health. Although the status of her well-being is unknown, if her recent outfits—and the smile she paired them with—are any indication, she’s feeling much better.

After going ultra-viral earlier this week for wearing a cable knit Frankie’s Bikini sweater set and debuting new glossy espresso hair, she’s back again with an over-the-top hair accessory.

On December 19, the supermodel was spotted on the streets of New York for what we assume is a round of holiday shopping. Along with a classic chic outfit, Hadid wore her hair pulled back in the cutest oversized scrunchie.

Every strand of her hair was pulled back tight, without a single one out of place. She secured it in a ponytail right in the middle of the back of her head, tying it in place with a pink satin scrunchie. Because of the fabric’s shiny finish, the scrunchie appeared to be rose gold or baby pink depending on the lighting, and gave a nice pop of color to the rest of her neutral ensemble.

Though we surely don’t need to tell you, scrunchies have risen from the dead and show no signs of returning. The hair tie was most popular in the ‘90s, then faded away for what everyone thought was for good. However, like most ’90s trends, Gen Z picked them back up again and they’ve stuck around for the past few years. Bigger styles, like Bella’s, are their favorite version of the trend to wear.

“Jumbo scrunchies are great for dressing up a messy hair day by turning it into a cute topknot or pony,” hairstylist Angel Cardona previously told us. “Twist the oversized scrunchie over a knot or fold of your hair, and you are ready to go.”

The rest of Hadid’s outfit was classic and chic, with a nod to ’90s supermodels.

Hadid tucked a light blue sweater with a low-v neckline into dark wash straight leg jeans reminiscent of styles worn by Cindy Crawford and Kate Moss. The neckline of the top had a denim trim that was the exact same wash as her pants. She layered a simple black suede blazer over the top. Then, she accessorized. First, with a thick black leather belt, then a large black shoulder purse, some skinny black sunglasses, and a teeny tiny silver necklace. Black boots and some rings finished off the look, and she was ready to hit the town.
