Sydney Sweeney Just Put an Abstract Twist on a Classic French Manicure

Leave it to Sydney Sweeney to always have some subtle experimentation going on when it comes to a French manicure. There was the time her French mani had a hidden pop of red, when she stepped out in a chocolatey version of the timeless nail look, and most recently when she wore a bedazzled, ombré version with a matching dress. She has a knack for taking the classic tips and turning them into something new—and she just did it again.

On December 18, the actor was in Sydney, Australia, to promote her new highly-anticipated rom-com with Glen Powell, Anyone But You. Of course, the star had to turn up in style, which she did, down to the manicure.

Though her entire ensemble was copy-worthy, we had to zoom in on her abstract, spiraling French tip nail design done by her go-to nail artist, Zola Ganzorgit.

Longer in length and almond-shaped, each nail had a slightly different French tip design. The base of the nail was a glossy pink-nude that was close to her skin tone. Then, where her tips would naturally form, the abstract design started. Like the classic iteration of the look, the tips were white, but that’s where the similarities to a traditional French mani stopped. Instead of solid tips, Sweeney’s were made up of swirling, flowing patterns. Some of the lines were bigger, some thinner, others overlapping; giving the effect of small waves on each finger.

Of course, that was not all. On a handful of the abstract flowing designs was a touch of sparkle. Though not on all of them, a few had the noticeable addition of glitter on the very end of her nails, upping the elegance and making it even more cohesive with the rest of the look.

Just as her nails were flowing and ethereal, so was her Givenchy gown. She literally looked like an angel with its completely sheer creamy white color perfectly hanging off her body. The dress had a plunging neckline that was mirrored in the back, reminiscent of an ancient Roman marble statue.

Silver jewelry finished off the look, as did her soft makeup by Ania Milczarczyk. Her skin looked glowy, hydrated, and radiant, with highlights on the high points of her face, a touch of blush on her cheeks, and some sculpting contour for drama. Her lips were light pink and glossy. Then, her eyes tied the sparkle of the nails in with a dusting of light white shimmer and a subtle smoky eyeliner look. Soft waves by Glen Orpeza finished the ethereal look.
