Nicola Peltz-Beckham’s Blurred French Manicure Is a Soft Twist on a Classic

When you think of Nicola Peltz-Beckham, classic style with a slight edge immediately comes to mind. It’s the aesthetic she channeled to attend the 2023 Met Gala in a Valentino gown, the look she goes for in her everyday life, and the vibe she likes to have on her nails—trying out lip gloss nails, a blizzard French mani and chrome aura nails just this year.

Edgy-chic style is also what the star wore to attend the 3rd Annual Academy Museum Gala at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles on December 3.

Peltz-Beckham posed for pictures alongside her husband, Brooklyn, and bestie, Selena Gomez, in another gorgeous Valentino dress and a blurred French manicure we will surely be copying at our next nail appointment.

Though the designer gown—that was baby pink tulle all over, off the shoulder, and had a rose accent at her waist and a built-in scarf—was divine, we are mostly stunned by her mesmerizing minimalist manicure.

Similar to a muted French mani, Peltz-Beckham’s nails had a high-gloss finish, almond shape, and medium length. What makes these a blurred French as opposed to a classic French is the hazy glossy finish that made her nails appear to have an ombré effect. The bottom of Peltz-Beckham’s nails, near her cuticles, were her natural color, which continued to where a typical French tip would begin. However, the border between the two shades was, well, blurred—making the entire tip seem like a natural progression of her nail.

Luckily for us, this is a very easy look to replicate and doesn’t require any red carpet events to wear in your everyday life. Plus, Amy Ling Lin, Founder & CEO of Sundays, previously told us exactly how to get the look.

A properly maintained base is the best way to ensure your finished product is perfect. Remove any lingering polish with nail polish remover before cutting and filing them to the desired length. Then, buff the surface of your nails for an even bed and apply your favorite base coat.

To achieve a blurred French mani, Lin says to opt for a sheer neutral base color. “[Use] two coats of Sundays no. 02 ($18) as the base color and a slightly off-white/beige shade like our no. 48 as the French tip,” Lin says.

When painting, she says, “Depending on your skills, you may use a French design brush or tape to paint the tip. Always make sure to allow time in between coats for a seamless finish.” Either way ensure their is a blurred line between the base and tip of your nails—you can brush a little of your tip shade on a disposable makeup sponge and use that to stamp on the polish for an easy ombrè effect.

Then, “Finish it off with our T.01 top coat ($18),” Lin says. “As with any manicure, allow time for your nails to fully dry off before getting back to your daily tasks.”
