If one person in Hollywood is a true style chameleon, it’s Cardi B. Since rapping her way into the A-list with “Bodak Yellow,” she has never taken a break from serving us avant-garde masterpieces, couture creations, and cool-girl chic outfits, transforming herself from rapper to a multi-hyphenate fashion It Girl in the process. So, naturally, she was chosen to model one of the boldest looks at Balenciaga’s most recent runway show, which riffed on celebrity culture.
On December 2, the brand held its Fall 2024 runway show in Los Angeles. However, it wasn’t just any fashion show. On top of a star-studded guest list including Kim Kardashian, Nicole Kidman, Lisa Rinna, and more, there were also high-profile models like Cardi and TikToker-turned-supermodel Alex Cosani walking down South Windsor Boulevard with the Hollywood sign in the background, carrying Erewhon x Balenciaga grocery bags and coffee cups.
Though the rap superstar didn’t get to strut down the runway with a designer grocery bag, she did get to model one of the most eye-catching ensembles of the show—including an electric blue fur coat and razor-thin ’90s brows.
Clearly, since this is a fashion show, the clothes were amazing. But, as you could probably guess, we couldn’t take our eyes off her makeup.
Her brows are what caught our attention immediately. The epitome of a ’90s cool girl, they might have been the thinnest eyebrows we have ever seen. Drawn a half an inch or so higher than where her brows would normally be, they each had a dramatic arch, and were the same level of thinness from tip to tail.
They sat on top of flawless makeup that continued the edgy ’90s aesthetic. Her skin was matte with a sculpting contour and a touch of blush. She exaggerated the mole above her lip with dark makeup, making her lipstick look even more dramatic—a thick, deep red liner with a glossy cherry color filling in the middle. Her eyes finished off the glam with long fluttering lashes and a small cat eye.
Of course, we couldn’t forget to take a moment for the outfit. An opulent, long, oversized faux fur coat, it had a surprising color for Balenciaga—electric blue. It was the only piece in that color in the entire show. The fluffy garment fell all the way to her ankles as she draped it off her shoulders, showing off the thick logo chain around her neck in the process. The look was finished off with a thick silver ring and pointy-toed black heels.
