Leave it to Hailey Bieber to invent yet another food-inspired beauty look. I’m sure you remember the inescapable glazed donut nails turned glazed donut skin trends that Beiber played a part in creating. Then, there was strawberry makeup, latte makeup, hot chocolate nails, and a red wine manicure. Not to mention all her food-theme Rhode beauty products.
Now, the model and mogul is drawing inspiration from a holiday treat: sugar plums. More specifically, the Sugar Plum Fairy from The Nutcracker.
On November 21, Bieber posted a TikTok showing how to create her “Sugar Plum Fairy” makeup look. She said in the caption that it was inspired by her role as the iconic character in a rendition of the ballet when she was 16, just modernized with 2023 makeup techniques—and, of course, some Rhode products.
She started the video wearing a bare face and an oversized pink and white puffer that matched the vibes of the makeup she was about to apply. First, she concealed her under eyes with the Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer ($36) and blended it out to her temples and cheeks. Then, she went in with a subtle contour on her cheekbones and hairline.
Using what seemed to be the same brush, she went in with a bright pink blush—Pat McGrath’s blush stick in Fleurotique—and blended that across her cheekbones towards her temples. Then, Bieber patted even more blush onto her cheeks with her finger, bringing this slightly lighter shade up closer to her eyes. As if that wasn’t enough blush, she reapplied a third layer, brushing this one on her nose, eyelids, and cheeks again—leaving her skin rosy, like she had just stepped out in the freezing cold.
For the sugar part of sugar plum, she added a white shimmery, sheer shadow on her eyelids that sparkled like actual sugar crystals. On top of the shadow, she applied an eye gloss that had even more shimmer, giving the eyes a wet, shiny look that seemed sweet enough to eat.

After brushing her brows and setting with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Strong Hold Brow Gel ($22), she applied a highlighter to the high points of her face, like her cheekbones and nose. Then, she brought her freckles out, dotting her nose and cheeks with the Beaubble Berry Freckled Pen ($22).
Before finishing the look off with lips, Bieber applied a coat or two of MAC Extended Play Gigaback Lash Mascara ($27) to her lashes. Then, she lined her lips with MAC Lip Liner in Cork ($24), a dark brownish-plum shade, before coating her lips in her new jelly bean-flavored shimmering Rhode lip tint.
The final look was sugary, sweet, and shining, and looked like a Nutcracker character turned into a TikTok superstar.
