We Found the Nail Polish Behind Jennifer Lopez’s “Perfect Nude” Manicure

Jennifer Lopez’s love of nude manicures is one of the most consistent things in our lives at this point. It is a love affair that always finds its way back onto her fingertips—from her “rich girl nude” to gray-tinged “sweater weather nails,” peaches and cream-inspired nude, and her take on  nude lip gloss nails. Her most recent, however, is her most naked yet—a fitting look for Sin City.

On November 19, J Lo’s go-to manicurist, Tom Bachik, posted a picture showing off the mani he created for the star, calling the look the “perfect nude” for “Vegas baby.” Lopez paired the sultry beige with a skin-tight matching dress and gorgeous hair and makeup.

Her nails were medium-length and coffin-shaped, and painted a beige color. A few shades lighter than her actual skin tone, her nails were most reminiscent of a sand dollar or the blonde streaks in her brown hair, and almost exactly matched the nude of her tight ruffle dress.

If we had to guess, what makes these perfect for Vegas is the all-encompassing nude illusion of her outfit, which consists of varying shades of nudes and browns. Her dress’s bodycon effect also added to this vibe—a spandex-like material with one giant ruffle going straight from her neck to the floor with a floral detail on the neckline.

Underneath her long, voluminous, wavy hair sat her glam. Her skin was matte, bronzed, and sculpted. Her eyes were lined dark on the upper and lower waterline, with lips in a glossy nude-pink shade.

Luckily for us, you don’t need to go to Las Vegas or have Bachik as a manicurist to get her “what stays in Vegas” shade, as the celebrity nail artist gave us all the details in his Instagram caption.

Though he didn’t say how he prepped the nails, it is best practice to remove any lingering polish with nail polish remover before pushing your cuticles back with oil. After wiping clean, cut and file your nails to your desired shape and length. Or, do what Bachik did and apply Aprés’ Gel-X Maise coffin-shaped tips ($15) and cure—regardless, after, you will need to buff the bed for an even surface and apply your favorite base coat.

After, it’s time for color. Bachik used Aprés’ Gel Couleur in the shade Forgotten Film ($15) to create the Vegas-ready nails. However, for a non-gel option, OPI’s Bubble Bath ($12) should do the trick.

All that is left is a coat of your favorite top coat and a dollop of nail oil for health, and you will be ready to hit the slots.
